Basic Income Can Be Life Changing for Creatives By Fostering Community Over Competition and Reducing Systemic Poverty - Only When It's Done Right

As an electropunk and post punk artist, I don't shy away from social consciousness in my songwriting or in my blogging about my creative process.  For example, one of my posts explores How To Make Music & Touring More Just For Women & Disabled People. This comes from my lived experiences as a woman who happens to be disabled, as well as a musician. I also love doing extensive research into topics I deeply care about. My blog is a place where I ramble to my heart's content and have fun nerding out about music. With that being said, I'm not trying to push my particular world view, values, and opinions onto my listeners. While I do hope my music and perspective resonates, I'm okay if it doesn't and I always appreciate the time people spend with my songs.  It's disingenuous and practically impossible to be creating any form of punk music without tackling politics. So when I'm writing a song about socially conscious themes, I like sticking to those that ...

Six Invaluable Life Skills Songwriting & Music Production Teaches You

Music is integral to who I am, it's what I love to do, and it's the gift that keeps on giving. My songwriting and music production has always been about the love of music and it always will be. How I Got These Invaluable Skills I'm blessed to have grown up in a musical family. Both my parents adore music. They introduced me to the joy of vinyl and have supported my musical journey from the start. When I was eight years old, they signed me up for piano lessons and recitals. I started learning with a group, then progressed into classical training with solo lessons. I was enraptured by the endless sounds I could make, the combinations that seemed to magically express what I was feeling, and helped connect me to others.   I picked up the guitar when I was sixteen years old because my best friend at the time encouraged me. Her and I were really into punk rock, and naturally started writing songs together. She would let me borrow her dazzling electric guitar with a pearl white pi...

Masquerade - Releasing Afterlove

Originally, I started blogging about my songwriting and music production process over on Reddit.  When my debut synthpop album Afterlove released on December 19, 2025, I compiled all my diary-style Reddit posts into a single one for easy access. However, I knew I wanted to continue documenting and sharing my process as I work on new music. But all my Reddit posts were becoming increasingly difficult to manage and its layout isn't really suited for my diary style.  So now I've created my songwriting and music production diary as a proper blog! It's meant to be a collection of in-the-moment photos, heartfelt writing, and my insights into songwriting and production for my music. If you've ever been curious about what exactly goes into making a song, or maybe you're looking to refresh your workflow, you'll find my blog easy to read, insightful, and interesting!  If you'd like to be part of my music journey, you can open the blog's sidebar and subscribe with...
